Atlanta Ballet Company, with Gennadi Nedvigin as Artistic Director, is the preeminent ballet company in the southeast and one of the premier companies in the country. Founded in 1929, it is committed to fostering young dancers and providing adult dancers a forum to express their creativity.


It is the State Ballet of Georgia and for 88 years has continued to share the joy of dance with students, patrons and the public at large. Its repertoire spans historical classics, eclectic interpretations and creative originals. Their roots are well-grounded in Atlanta and the community and contribute to the development of the city’s creative and cultural growth.

Part of Atlanta Ballet Company is the Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Education founded in 1996. Founded by the former Artistic Director of Atlanta Ballet, the Center for Dance Education gives all people, regardless of age, experience or dance background, the ability to discover the joys of creative movement through a variety of classes and programs. The National Association of Schools of Dance has accredited the program with its scaled curriculum, comprehensive dance offerings and world-class faculty. Students are given the unique opportunity to observe and rehearse with Atlanta Ballet students.

The Savannah Ballet Theater and School of Dance was created in 1998 under the direction of Suzanne Braddy and is the premier ballet company in southeast Georgia.  They produce a full year of classic and contemporary dance performances and recent stage productions of Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and The Wizard of Oz but is most recognized for their annual performance of The Nutcracker.

The Gainesville Ballet works closely with the Gainesville School of Ballet and Brenau University to bring ballet and dance to over 6,000 children and 2,000 adults from over 22 counties in Georgia thanks to the volunteer efforts and contributions from individuals, local businesses and corporations that make these efforts possible.

The School of Ballet offers a curriculum starting at age 2 in a Mommy and Me class. Children and parents learn the joy of dance together.  A series of programs taking children through the high school level are offered to develop the talents of these performers. Starting at the age of 10, students are able to audition for the Junior Company. Many of those accepted later go on to become apprentices at the Gainesville Ballet Company.

Enrollment at the junior and senior levels is by placement and by audition only. A history of dedication and competency is required as classes are three to four times a week with evening rehearsals one to two nights a week. And participation in the summer class is mandatory.

The Gwinnett Ballet Theater is an Atlanta Metro area pre-professional ballet company whose yearly production of The Nutcracker draws crowds from across Atlanta. Started in 1977, the ballet company is located in Lawrenceville and is an Honored Company of the Southeast Regional Ballet Assoc and is a participant in the annual festival. The ballet company offers a variety of dance classes, performances and special access to ticketing options for underserved children and families. The Shiloh Elementary School through its scholarship program, enables hundreds of children to be introduced to the arts in this exciting environment.

The Northeast Atlanta Ballet Company, located in Lilburn, brings intensive art experiences and programming to Gwinnett and surrounding metro areas of Atlanta. Their mission is to provide professional classical ballet performances at affordable pricing and create challenging opportunities for young dances to learn and develop in their performances.  The Ballet Company offers classical performances including Coppelia and Paquita and Swan Lake. A children’s series includes The Little Mermaid and Beauty & The Beast performances. These full length productions challenge dancers as well as the introduction of new and innovative choreographers to develop the breadth and depth of the dancer’s skill level.

The South Georgia Ballet was founded in 1998 as a regional ballet company to provide training and intensive performing opportunities for the serious dancer. Children ages 9 through 18 audition each Spring and Fall for the upcoming year from 7 counties in South Georgia and North Florida.  The Season includes an original ballet each spring, Fuse which is a winter collaborative event and The Nutcracker, an annual tradition.

The ballet company provides strong community programming including dance classes, a school matinee performance of The Nutcracker and a variety of programming for the Thomasville Center for the Arts.

The Georgia Ballet was founded in 1960 and has an established mission to inspire the public through professional ballet performance achieved through unparalleled training and provide substantial community outreach so that all can avail themselves of the artistic learning and appreciation of the arts.

The resident professional company offer innovative performances of classical and contemporary works. The company strives to continually elevate the performance and skill level of its dancers. The School of The Georgia Ballet primarily focuses on classical ballet but also offers classes in other dance disciplines including jazz, tap and hip hop. The school has a large student class schedule as well as a large adult program where the community can take classes in a fun environment.
